Tribute to great coach
Keith Wicker was my kind of coach. He was old school – tough but tender.
Coach Wicker pushed his players to be the best they could be. He would yell at them if need be – sometimes getting in their faces with those instructions. But at the same time, he cared for them greatly. And they gave all-out effort in return.
Close to Nowhere
Rain, pain, soccer ... and Facebook
• Tuesday morning, as I’m writing this, it’s lightning and raining and thundering. We constantly worry about the power going out, but so far, so good!
At home, if it looks like it might rain, the power goes out. I always feel so sorry for the HSUD guys, because it always starts raining just about the time they get there.
EPA’s attempt to side-step Congress
Since President Obama took office, the federal government has expanded at an alarming rate. The failed stimulus and Obamacare are two prime examples, but the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has also been at the forefront of this effort. The EPA’s proposed policies could lead to higher energy and food costs for all Americans and stifle economic opportunity at a time when we should be promoting job creation.
Letters To The Editor
With the departure of Chief of Police Pearson, Holly Springs and Marshall County have lost one of the few competent department heads in local government. The chief and I were both in a Leadership Marshall class and had many discussions on various topics ranging from race relations to politics.
