Three arrested on drug charges By SUE WATSON Staff Writer Marshall County Sheriff Kenny Dickerson reported the arrest of three people from Byhalia May 10 on a drug indictment. The arrests netted marijuana, cocaine powder, drugs, pills, a stolen weapon and cash, he said. Rodney
Lee Spencer, 27, of the 1200 block of St. Paul Road in Byhalia, was
arrested and charged with possession of a weapon by a felon, possession
of powder cocaine, Xanax pills, Lortab pills, Ecstasy pills and
marijuana with intent to sell, the sheriff said. Bond was set at
$60,000 and Spencer remained in jail on a violation of probation
warrant from the Mississippi Department of Corrections, the sheriff

Murder suspect returned to city • Police go to 77 calls By SUE WATSON Staff Writer A
man wanted in connection with the shooting death of Melvin Louis Greer
has been extradited back to Holly Springs from Texas, according to
police chief Robert Pearson. Jeremy McGauyhey,
33, of the 1600 block of Roberts Chapel Road, Lamar, was returned after
being picked up by U.S. Marshals the first week of May. He is charged
with murder, aggravated assault and possession of a weapon by a felon,

serving 23 years in public service – first as alderman of the city of
Hattiesburg, then as a member of the Greene County Board of Supervisors
