Hudspeth visits Holly Springs
By SUE WATSON
“Return to the Southern Wild,” a collection of wildlife and scenic photography, is a collection of Joe Mac Hudspeth’s photographs taken throughout Mississippi over the past 30 years.
Hudspeth, who was recently at Jennie’s Flowers & Gifts in Holly Springs for a book-signing event, grew up in Oxford, but his grandparents, Emma and Joe Hudspeth Sr., were from Ashland. He said his grandmother, Emma, is believed to be the first woman elected to public office in Mississippi.
Hudspeth’s mother, Mrs. Joe Hudspeth, was a sister to Vi Harviel, prior owner of Jennie’s Flowers & Gifts.
They do have a huge family in Ashland.
Hudspeth is a cousin of Mrs. Jason Burch. Jason Burch is the son of Mrs. Manny Burch, a co-owner of Jennie’s Flowers & Gifts.
Copies of his book are available for purchase at Jennie’s Flowers & Gifts.
The coffee table book, contains 144 full-color pages of Mississippi scenery, deer, ducks, turkeys, gators, gallinules and other wildlife. His first coffee table book is “In the Southern Wild.”
