Danley shines at Nike Camp By BARRY BURLESON Editor An
offensive tackle from Byhalia High School is climbing the recruiting
charts after his showing at the recent Houston Nike Camp. Jamal
Danley, who will be a senior next season, had a tremendous showing in
Texas, according to Markeith Washington, head coach of the Indians. “Jamal
is a big-time player,” Washington said. “He is the cornerstone of our
offense. Believe me, we’re going to run behind him next year. We’re
building the offense around him. He’s the leader of our team.” Danley,
6’4” and 265 pounds, is one of several camp participants mentioned on a
popular website, 247sports.com. The site, which focuses on recruiting
news, reported on the Houston Nike Camp’s top performers. It said the
camp was low on numbers but high on talent and summarized the best of
the event, including high-profile commitments and some previously
unknown risers. About the Byhalia Indian, 247sports.com reported: | Courtesy photo

“One
of the biggest surprises of the event came from Mississippi in the form
of Danley. With good size, Danley really emerged from obscurity as one
of the top linemen in Houston. At around 6-4, Danley doesn’t have much
bad weight. He looks like he really enjoys contact and is physical and
strong when engaged. In his pass set, Danley is raw but he has some
great feet and quickness to work with. He may not have the 6-6 frame
but he looks like he has the athleticism to remain on the edge as a
tackle or move inside to guard. Look for Danley’s recruitment to take
off as more schools get a first hand look at him.” |
