Clevin Hannah is going a long way from home to display his basketball talents. The
former Holly Springs High School Hawk has signed with Miercurea-Ciuc, a
professional basketball team in Harghita County, Romania. He signed Monday, Dec. 27, 2010, and left Tuesday, Jan. 4, for Romania. Hannah
played for coach Naylond Hayes at Holly Springs High School and helped
lead the Hawks to back-to-back state championships in 2004 and 2005. He graduated from Wichita State University in Wichita, Kansas, on May 14, 2010. As a senior, Hannah was named to the All-Missouri Valley Conference First Team and the MVC All-Tournament Team. He
led the NCAA in free-throw percentage for two weeks, tied his
career-high points with 26 at Indiana State, set the Wichita State
record for consecutive free throws with 43 straight and led WSU in
scoring for the second-straight season. He was Shocker Radio Player of
the Game eight times. At WSU, he had the third-best all-time season
free throw percentage at 90.4 percent, tied for seventh-best career
free throw percentage at 82.1 percent and finished 13th on WSU career
assists lists despite playing just two seasons after a transfer from
Chipola (Fla.) College. As a junior at Wichita
State, he was named to the MVC All-Newcomer Team and was MVC Newcomer
of the Week two times. He also won the Warren Armstrong Jabali Assists
Award and was chosen Shocker Radio Player of the Game six times. Hannah
is the son of Kervin and Tametria Hannah Daugherty and Robert
McCullough of Rochester, N.Y. He is the grandson of Cheryl Brittenum
Brannon and Mr. and Mrs. Larry Turner of Florissant, Mo. He is the
brother of Kierra, Kervin, Kyle and Klemia. |
