Three
people were arrested and charged with grand larceny in the theft of
diesel fuel and gasoline, according to sheriff Kenny Dickerson. James
Denton Kirk, 41, of 4590 Forest Hill Road, Olive Branch, Wendy Michelle
Kirk, 37, of 50 3rd Street, Byhalia, and Randall Barrett, 55, of 165
McKinsey Lane in Red Banks, were arrested on Mother’s Day in the Red
Banks area, he said. The suspects will be charged with multiple counts
of theft of diesel fuel and gasoline from businesses in industrial
parks and construction sites, Dickerson said. Investigators
with the sheriff’s department seized a Ford F150 pickup loaded with two
55-gallon drums of diesel and five or six five- and three-gallon cans
of diesel. They also recovered a pump that belonged to one of the
businesses where the diesel was taken, according to Maj. Kelly McMillen
with the sheriff’s department. He said the group is believed to have
been involved in the theft of fuel from businesses in Marshall County
for three months. In a follow-up on a wreck
involving two vehicles on North Slayden Road several weeks ago, the
sheriff’s department has charged Tomas Solis, of 2016 Slayden Road,
with manslaughter/culpable negligence in the death of Gloria C.
Kolesar, 56, of North Slayden Road, the sheriff said. Solis has been
released on $75,000 bond. Also, investigators are
seeking the whereabouts of Michael Lashone Smith for questioning in
regards to some burglaries in the Byhalia area, Dickerson said. Anyone
with knowledge of his whereabouts is asked to call Crime Stoppers at
1-800-729-2169 or to call the sheriff's office at 662-252-1311 and ask
to speak to Maj. Kelly McMillen. |
