On Thursday afternoon, Wheeler came to Potts Camp for the first game of their state playoff series. The
Lady Cardinals took to the field at 5 p.m. The first inning ended at
0-0. The second inning had a different outcome. Potts Camp couldn’t
score, but the Lady Eagles tallied two runs. Wheeler
had come to life, leaving the Lady Cardinals struggling. The Lady
Eagles scored in every inning, while the Potts Camp girls scored their
only run in the sixth inning. Wheeler won 9-1. Pitching for the Lady Cardinals was Kayla Yarbrough with Megan Watkins catching. Yarbrough scored the run for Potts Camp. On
Friday, the Lady Cardinals went to Wheeler for the second game of the
playoffs. The Cardinals had to win the next two games to stay alive.
This would be the most important game of the year for the Lady
Cardinals. The game did not go the way they
wanted. The Lady Cardinals just could not get the bats going, whereas
the Lady Eagles came out hitting the softball. The Lady Eagles scored
on the Lady Cardinals in the first inning. Potts Camp held them in the second. It
was downhill for the Lady Cardinals in the third. The game was called
in the bottom of the fifth inning. The Lady Cardinals had lost their
chance to advance any farther. The final score was 10-0. Yarbrough pitched for the Lady Cardinals, with Watkins catching. The fans and Coach Loden are proud of the girls for a terrific season.  | | Kayla Yarbrough of Potts Camp delivers a pitch with a Lady Eagle on second base. |
