Potts Camp girls, boys take first in division

The Potts Camp Lady Cardinals and Cardinals celebrate their Division 2-1A track championships last week at Byhalia High School.

Potts Camp took the top prizes in both girls and boys competition at the Division 2-1A Track Meet last week.

H.W. Byers placed third in girls and fourth in boys.

The champion Lady Cardinals totaled 101.50 points, leading second-place Myrtle (69.50) and third-place H.W. Byers (66). Tupelo Christian was fourth with 17.

The first-place Cardinals earned 111 points, ahead of runner-up Tupelo Christian (67), third-place Myrtle (41) and fourth-place Byers (27).

The meet, coordinated by coach Karen Green of Potts Camp, was held at Byhalia High School.

The top four finishers advance to the regional, which will be held Saturday, April 30, at Byhalia.

3200 meter run

• Girls – first, Amber Cooper, Potts Camp, 14:15; second, Shauna Haney, Potts Camp, 14:16.

• Boys – second, Kris Roberts, 11;17.
