MA Patriots take second in district

The Marshall Academy Patriots finished second in the District 1-AA Track Meet Saturday at Lee Academy in Clarksdale.

Marshall earned 71 points and trailed first-place Indianola Academy, which totaled 97. West Memphis Christian School was third with 49.

Several Patriots, who finished in the top four, advance to the North AA meet in their respective events. It is set for Wednesday of this week at Washington School in Greenville.

Results from the district meet follow.

Boys

• Shot put – fourth, Kirby Jones, 34-06.

• High jump – second, Jordan Brock, 5-04.

• Long jump – second, Joey Brock, 19-04.50; third, Kevin Fitzpatrick, 19-04.

• Triple jump – first, Kevin Fitzpatrick, 41-02.25; second, Jordan Brock, 37-07.

• 300 meter hurdles – fourth, Joey Brock, 47.22.

• 800 meter relay – first, Jake Delashmit, Hank Owens, Kevin Fitzpatrick, Elgin Lafever, 1:36.21.

• 400 meter relay – first, Jake Delashmit, Joey Brock, Hank Owens, Elgin Lafever, 46.00.

• 110 meter hurdles – third, Andy Burleson, 19.57.

• 100 meter dash – second, Elgin Lafever, 11.77; third, Hank Owens, 11.93.

• 1600 meter run – first, Andy Burleson, 5:35.

• 400 meter dash – third, Jordan Brock, 59.15; fifth, Kirby Jones, 1:05.17.

• 800 meter run – second, Neil Murphy, 2:27.18.

• 200 meter dash – second, Elgin Lafever, 24.49; fourth, Joey Brock, 26.11.

• 3200 meter run – second, Andy Burleson, 12:27.
