Marshall Academy baseball continues to dominate in District 1-AA. The Patriots claimed their fifth straight district championship last week with a sweep of Kirk Academy. “I’m
very proud of the kids’ efforts and what they’ve accomplished,” said
Bart Jenkins, in his first year as head coach of the Pats. “It’s tough
to win any district, and to win five straight titles, that’s a
tremendous accomplishment. I’m happy to be a part of it.” Full Story
Cards down Rebels By CLAUDE VINSON Sports Editor It
was a defensive struggle for the most part Saturday, but in the end the
Potts Camp Cardinals put together a well-organized effort to close out
the Hickory Flat Rebels. Potts Camp faced Johnny
Warren to start the game. The lead-off batter was Ben Bolden. The
pitcher awarded two in a row. The runner on second was thrown out
trying to advance to third. The side was changed after two flyouts. Full Story
MA junior wins Pilgrimage 5K By BARRY BURLESON Editor Andy Burleson of Holly Springs was the overall winner in the Pilgrimage 5K Run Saturday morning. Burleson, a junior at Marshall Academy, finished the scenic and challenging course in 22:10. Full Story

is little need to go into a lengthy recap of the dueling duo which made
it through the Final Four and took the floor for the last time in
Houston to officially close out the NCAA season. The
Butler Bulldogs along with the Rams of Virginia Commonwealth University
had been the poster children throughout the playoffs, surmounting
almost impossible odds and discounting numerous naysayers. Butler had
made its final statement once again and made it into the championship
game for the second consecutive season. It had one more really
formidable task – stop a team from picking up its third championship

H.W. Byers Lions, coming off of a decisive win (14-4) over the Blue
Mountain Cougars earlier in the week, hosted the Hawks of Myrtle
Friday. It could have been a “Friday the 13th,” if one judged the
