J.C. Anderson,
71, of Las Vegas, Nev., formerly of Holly Springs, died March 24, 2011,
at Summerlin Hospital Medical Center, Las Vegas. He was a member of
Second Baptist Church, Las Vegas, and a diesel mechanic. Services
were held at 11 a.m. on April 4 at Jones Grove MB Church in Holly
Springs. Burial was in Beverly Chapel CME Church Cemetery. Rev. John
Powell officiated. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home was in charge of
arrangements. He leaves his wife, Percie Smith
Anderson; a daughter, Kimberly Anderson; stepson, Tyrone Smith; six
sisters, Lennie (M.D.) Jackson, Hester Anderson, Corine Anderson,
Mattie Flippin, Florene Wimbush, Brenda Clayton; five brothers,
Nathaniel Anderson, Edward (Ellenora) Anderson, Archie (Latanya)
Anderson, Jeffrey Anderson, Levandra Anderson; two grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Vernita Anderson. Frances B. Hefley
Frances B. Hefley, 81, died March 30, 2011, in Nashville, Tenn. She was the widow of Philip Madison Hefley. Services
were held at 10:30 a.m. on April 2 at Granny White Church of Christ.

Jonathan Hefley, Kelly Baker-Hefley, Rachel Shepler and Emma Burleson. James Thomas Hurley

Thomas Hurley, 67, of Byhalia, died March 17, 2011, at his home. He was
a Baptist, an engineer and a U.S. Navy veteran of Vietnam. Services
were held at 11 a.m. on March 19 at Holly Springs Funeral Home Chapel.
Bro. Tommy Shackelford officiated. Burial was in Macedonia Baptist
Church Cemetery in Byhalia. He leaves his wife,
Linda Hurley; three daughters, Dianna Reeves of Independence, Renee
Deming of Olive Branch, Sonya Berry Hill of Byhalia; and seven

Garrison, 71, died March 24, 2011. He was baptized at an early age at
Mt. Zion Taska MB Church in Red Banks. He later moved to Chicago. In
1997, he joined Garden Prayer Church and served as a deacon. He worked
as a print presser for many years. After retirement, he worked as a
painter. Services were held at 1 p.m. on April 2
at Mt. Zion Taska MB Church. Rev. Brandon A. Blake, pastor; Rev. Robert
W. Garrison officiated. Burial was in the church cemetery. Serenity
Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. He
leaves five daughters, Velma Tate of Byhalia, Gwendolyn Garrison of
Memphis, Tenn., Kimberly Michelle Garrison, Monica Garrison Reese
(Terrell), Dajauna Young of Chicago, Ill.; three sons, Mitchell
Garrison (Brenda) of Olive Branch, Charles Garrison (Anita) of Memphis,
Derrick Garrison of Grand Rapids, Mich.; two adopted children,
Nathaniel Garrison (Rosie) of Memphis, Dixie Hull of Byhalia; sisters,
Clara Harris, Verna Hardaway, Margie Green (James), Vernester Yancy
(Terry), Regina Martin (James); brothers, Edward, Isaac (Mae), Robert
Garrison (Mary); eight grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. He
was preceded in death by three brothers, James R., L.T. and Alexander
Garrison; and three sisters, Gladys Martin, Thelma Plunk, Nonnia
Anderson, and a son-in-law, Willie James Tate. Pallbearers
were Milton Benford, Eddie Bowling, Edward D. Garrison Jr., Ike
Garrison, Nathaniel Garrison, Martin Hardaway, James Hale and Lewis
Harris. Honorary pallbearers were Edward D. Garrison Sr., Isaac
Garrison, Robert W. Garrison, L.H. Martin and John Plunk. Brooklyn D’Shay Burton Richardson Brooklyn D’Shay Burton Richardson, 12 days old, died March 30, 2011, at LeBonheur Children’s Medical Center in Memphis, Tenn. Graveside
services were held at 2:30 p.m. on April 4 at Pleasant Grove M.B.

of Holly Springs. Nancy Jean Skelton Nancy Jean Skelton, 48, of Red Banks, died April 3, 2011, at her home. She was employed in management at Synergy Gas. Services
were held at 11 a.m. on April 6 at Red Banks Baptist Church, where she
