Potts Camp routs Cougars twice

The Potts Camp baseball team opened Region 2-1A play last week with a pair of easy wins over Blue Mountain.

Game one lasted only three innings as the Cardinals dominated 15-0.

MA wins district series

Marshall Academy moved to the front of the pack in the District 1-AA baseball race last week.

The Patriots, after losing game one to Indianola Academy, rebounded to take the next two and moved to 4-2 in the district and 11-7 overall.

The Potts Camp fastpitch softball team had its first games of the season March 19.

The Lady Cardinals ended their spring break by traveling to Booneville and playing in a one-day tournament.

Marshall varsity boys, jr. high girls take first

It was a successful first track meet of the season Wednesday, March 23, for Marshall Academy athletes.

The Patriots tied public school Walnut for first-place in varsity boys. And the junior high Lady Patriots won the championship by 18 points over their nearest competitor.

Tourney surprises

I am asking that if you don’t have very good recollection then have a graphic imagination. Some years ago, there was a cartoon in the newspaper which depicted a man sitting in a huge arm chair in front of a TV, tightly gripping the arms with his hair standing straight up on his head. The announcer on the tube was saying, “That’s all for the news at 6 folks, see you at 10.”

Rodeo set for Saturday at Barton

A Deep South Championship Rodeo will be held in Barton on Saturday, April 2. The big event, produced by J Bar B Rodeo Co., begins at 7 p.m. at the Robert Rainey Jr. Memorial Arena, 928 Quinn Road.

Ticket prices are $8 for adults, $6 for children, and ages 3 and under free.

Golf tournament slated for April 16

There will be a golf tournament Saturday, April 16, to benefit the Summer Youth Missions Programs of First Baptist Church, Holly Springs.

The four-person scramble will begin at 10 a.m. at Kirkwood. Cost is $55 per person. Call the church office, 252-2627, to sign up.

Hole sponsorship deadline is April 1.
