Leon Jackson Beck
Jr.
Leon Jackson “Jack” Beck
Jr., 75, of
Southaven, formerly of Holly Springs, died March 2, 2011, at Baptist
DeSoto Hospital in Southaven. He served in the U.S. Navy. He was a
teacher in the Pontotoc and Biloxi school systems early in his career.
He was an emergency medical technician at the Marshall County Hospital.
He became a florist at Bonds Flower Shop in Holly Springs and arranged
flowers at a number of shops in the Memphis area.
A memorial
service was held at 11 a.m. on March 9 at Southaven Church of the
Nazarene, where he was a member. Holly Springs Funeral Home was in
charge of arrangements.
He leaves a brother,
Jerry B. Beck of
Holly Springs; a sister, Donna Barnes Stark (Bill) of Starkville; and
his aunt, Lois Swaney Shipp (Ira) of Holly Springs.

Jefferson F. Brown Sr.,
82, of Red Banks, died March 6,
2011, at his home.
Services
were held at 11 a.m. on March 10 at First Baptist Church of Mt.
Pleasant, where he was a member. Burial was in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery.

Charles
Ray “Chuck” Creasy, 74, of Barton, died March 3, 2011, at Methodist
Hospital - Germantown, Tenn. He served in the U.S. Army and was a
lifetime member of the National Rifle Association.
Services were held at
Central Church Chapel in
Collierville at 3:30 p.m. on March 7.
He
leaves his wife of 52 years, Jean Harrison Creasy; a son, Charles Ray
Creasy Jr. (Mitzi) of Collierville, Tenn.; a daughter, Rhonda Creasy
Wrigley of Olive Branch; a sister, Beverly Frank (Bill) of Lone Tree,
Colo.; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Herman Delbert
Dillard, 63, of Louisville, Ky., formerly of Potts Camp, died Feb. 26,
2011, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Cincinnati, Ohio. He was a member
of Star Hope Baptist Church, Louisville, a U.S. Army veteran of
Vietnam, member of Free Mason Industrial Lodge #145, president of Star
Hope Baptist Church brotherhood, member of Veterans of Foreign Wars and
a brakeman with Southern Railroad.
Services were held at 11
a.m.
on March 5 at Baptist Hill MB Church in Potts Camp, where he was a
former member. Burial was in the church cemetery. Rev. Lacey Scott
officiated. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home was in charge of
arrangements.
He leaves his wife,
Jackie Dillard; two children,
Dawn Urrutia, Joann Gaines, both of Louisville; his mother, Essie
Dillard of Potts Camp; four sisters, Sherry Diane Rayford, Linda
Edwards, Brenda Collins, all of Holly Springs, Isophene Owens of Potts
Camp; three brothers, Ralph Dillard, James Dillard Jr., Steven Neal
Dillard of Potts Camp; and three grandchildren.
He was preceded in death
by a sister, Annie Marie Wilson.

Michael France, 61, of
Coldwater, died Feb. 25, 2011, at
his home. He was an auto repairman.
Memorial
services were held at 3 p.m. on March 5 at Happy Valley Full Gospel,
where he was a member. Pastor Jerry Polk officiated. Holly Springs

Johnny
Guy, 76, of Southaven, formerly of Byhalia, died March 2, 2011, at
Golden Living Care Home in Southaven. He was a retired laborer with
Polar Kraft of Olive Branch.

noon on
March 9 at Union Valley MB Church in Byhalia, where he was a member.
Burial was in the church cemetery. Rev. Hugh Guy officiated. J.F.

Betty Catherine Gysendorfer
Betty
Catherine Gysendorfer, 71, of Potts Camp, died Feb. 27, 2011 at Muse
Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City, Iowa. She was the widow of
Steve Gysendorfer. A high school teacher, she taught at several schools
in Iowa and at CADET High School in Holly Springs. She also
began an
integrated religious education program for St. Joseph’s Catholic Church
in Holly Springs and taught business and oral communication for
Northwest Community College in Ashland. She served in several
capacities at St. Joseph Church and had poetry published. She also won
first place at Tupelo Gum Tree Festival’s Southern Writers Conference.
Services
will be held at 11 a.m. on March 11 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in
Guttenberg, Iowa. Inurnment will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery in Iowa.
Marvin Bries will officiate. Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel in Clear
Lake is in charge of local arrangements (641-357-2193).
A memorial mass will be
held at St. Joseph’s Catholic
Church in Holly Springs on March 16, at 7 p.m.
She
leaves a brother, Dennis (Gwen) Eilers of Luana, Iowa; and three
sisters, Karen (Jim) Orr of Bettendorf, Iowa, Eileen (Tony) Dudek of
Cody, Wyo., Anita (Paul) Langholz of Clear Lake, Iowa.

Estell Harris, 81, of Cayce, died March 6, 2011, at Baptist Memorial
Collierville Hospital. She was a member of New Hope Baptist Church.

Burial was in New Hope Cemetery in Slayden. Bro. Billy Adair

Marie Shannon, 70, of Holly Springs, died March 4, 2011, at Methodist
University Hospital in Memphis, Tenn. She was the widow of Johnny
Shannon Sr. and employed in retail sales.

Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in Hill Crest Cemetery.
She
leaves a son, Johnny Shannon Jr. of Holly Springs; two daughters,
Brenda Swindell, Tammy Waddle, both of Hernando; her father, Clyde
Green; two brothers, Benny Green of Memphis, Billy Green of Horn Lake;
a sister, Trudy Byard of Holly Springs; (Mary); six grandchildren and
two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in
death by a son, Terry Shannon.

were Chris Byard, Joey Byard, Eddie Byard, Terry Rhea, Steve Gibson and
