Ready for springtime
Snow days were few when I was in school.
But I remember them very well. And I recall wishing for many more - that didn’t come.
This week’s snow days were a bit of a surprise - at least to the Burleson family.
Close to Nowhere
Mama said there’d be days like this
• You know those kinds of days that nothing goes quite right? Seems like I’ve run into a slew of them lately.
My new printer at home messed up and I could not fix it -- and I waited several weeks before going online to “chat” with a service rep about the problem. He prescribed a new print head and shipped one right out and “voila” I can print again.
Then a program I use for just about everything went bonkers. It took my computer genius son several days and much hair (pulling his hair out...) to get that fixed.
The Preacher’s Corner
“The Ten Commandments” — appropriate!
We’ve had our share of crime lately, as the headlines in last week’s paper attest. It looks like there is a crime story on the front page of The South Reporter just about every week, so I was not surprised when Barry devoted his column to his family’s own recent encounter with burglars. Who does not have a story of this sort? I am glad the Burlesons came through the experience unharmed and with minimal loss of property.
Judge Lackey a true American hero
My how time flies. Was it really 12 years ago that I wrote the following words in my column?
The average Mississippi voter would be appalled if an attorney could pay a judge cash for a favorable verdict, but that’s what is happening.
Please take time to remember our local “heroes” who are serving in war zones around the world.Shanika Buffington, National Guard, Iraq
