The Marshall Academy junior high basketball teams are about a month away from their big event – the District 1-AA Tournament. It will be held January 26, 27 and 29 at Indianola Academy. The Patriots and Lady Patriots went to the holiday break with 8-1 and 7-5 records, respectively. Coach Craig Dailey said the junior high boys have developed into a solid team. “Jacob
(Driggers), our lone freshman, has done a great job in the post for
us,” he said. “Tobe (West), Thomas (Faulkenbery) and Kevin (Harris)
have provided solid guard play at both ends of the floor. “Devin
(McGreger) and Colt (Lindsey) are developing well to overcome their
inexperience. Brian (Novarese) has become a tremendous stopper, and he
is developing his all-around play. “Dakota (Dailey) is having a tremendous season. It’s going to be fun seeing how good he can be. “This is a fun group to watch – a very competitive group.” Coach David Austin said the junior high girls have improved a lot. “We are very young, but we have really played hard and scrapped so far this year,” he said. “We’re 1-1 in district play with some tough matchups coming up. “We will continue to work hard and see where it takes us.” | | Marshall’s Darcie Gibson passes to a teammate. |
