Newspaper
deadlines same for holidays
The
South Reporter will have regular deadlines during the Christmas and New
Year’s holidays, and newspapers will be distributed on the regular
schedule.
Deadline
for classified advertising is
Monday at 10 a.m. Deadline for all other advertising, plus news and
photographs, is Monday at 5 p.m.
The
South Reporter office will be closed Friday, Dec. 24, for Christmas. It
will reopen Monday, Dec. 27, at 8 a.m.
The
South Reporter office will be closed Friday, Dec. 31, for New Year’s.
It will reopen Monday, Jan. 3, 2011, at 8 a.m.
“We
hope everyone has a joyous holiday season,” said Barry Burleson,
publisher, “and we look forward to serving you in 2011, the newspaper’s
146th year.”
The
staff is planning its annual Profile Edition for March 2011.
Information will be announced later.
Chamber
announces lighting winners
The
Holly Springs Chamber of Commerce announces winners of its annual
Holiday Lighting Contest. Categories included residential, commercial
and best door.
Residential
– first, Henry
Holbrook, 494 Coopwood Drive; second, John Ward, 310 Salem Ave.; third,
Regina Waller, 240 Elder Ave.; honorable mention, Perry Breithaupt, 195
N. Walthall.
Commercial
– first, Buford
Furniture; second, attorney Ki Jones; third, Liddy’s Health Mart;
honorable mention, JB’s On the Square.
Best
Door – winner, Carole J. Taylor, 325 W. Chulahoma; honorable mention,
Fred M. Belk, 490A Salem Avenue.
Everyone
in the city limits of Holly Springs was eligible. The chamber of
commerce congratulates all the winners.
One
killed in accident Saturday on Hwy. 4
Melanie
Carol Campbell, 32, of Ashland, was killed in a Saturday, Dec. 18,
two-vehicle, head-on collision on Highway 4 East, according to deputy
coroner John Garrison.
He
said two people were riding in each vehicle.
Kenny
Holbrook, chief with the Holly Springs Fire Department, said the
drivers of both vehicles were extricated.
Campbell,
who was driving, was headed westbound, while the driver of the other
vehicle was traveling eastbound, Garrison said. Campbell was wearing
her seatbelt.
Three
were transported to area hospitals for treatment of injuries, he said.
