Eugene Bowien
David
Eugene Bowien, 77,
of Potts Camp, died Jan. 29, 2010. He retired from All South
Subcontractors of Birmingham, Ala., as supervisor.
Services
were held at 1 p.m. on Feb. 2 at Temperance Hill Baptist Church, where
he was a member. Burial was in the church cemetery. Bro. Ken Cooper
officiated. Holly Springs Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
He
leaves his wife of 35 years, Ruth Sims Bowien; two sons, Terry Bowien
of Birmingham, Ala., John David Bowien of Choctaw, Okla.; two
daughters, Kathy Burchette of Sanford, N.C., Debbie Ragsdale of
Graysville, Ala.; stepchildren, Teresa Byrd, Gary Cotton, both of Potts
Camp, Brenda Lyons of Gulfport; his brother, James Bowien of Nacoma
Park, Okla.; two sisters, Retha Dugger of McCloud, Okla., Sharon Babb
of Livingston, Tx.; 14 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
He
was preceded in death by his brother, Monroe Bowien; and his sister,
Dolores King.

Lester
Childress, 74, of Holly Springs, died Jan. 24, 2010 at Regional Medical
Center in Memphis, Tenn. He was a retired machine operator with Neil
Bain Construction Company.
Services
were held at
1 p.m. on Jan. 30 at Adolphus Chapel CME Church. Burial was in the
church cemetery. Rev. Willie Hoey officiated. J.F. Brittenum and Son
Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
He
leaves a son, Jake Childress of Holly Springs; four sisters, Melinda
Hughes, Leathy Taylor, Lucille Harris, Beatrice Robinson, all of Holly
Springs; three brothers, Willie B. Childress of Memphis, Tenn., Louis
Childress of Aurora, Ill., George Childress of Waynesville, Mo.; five
grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers
were Roderick Burgess, Price Burgess Sr., Larry Nunnally, Michael
Taylor, Ossie Taylor and James Lawson. Honorary pallbearers were Willie
B. Childress, Louis Childress, George Childress, Nathan Hughes, Lee
Edward Kinard and Jessie Harris.

Carpenter Jr., 82, died Jan. 30, 2010.
Services
were held Feb. 3 at Nettleton Baptist Church. Dr. Stan Ballard
officiated. Burial was in Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery. Greggs
Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
He
leaves his wife, Edythe M. Carpenter; his son, Daniel L. and Linda
Carpenter of Holly Springs; his daughter, Donna and Ron Allely of
Chatham, Ontario; a sister, Sara Christian; brothers Roy and John Paul
Carpenter of Holly Springs, Ronnie Carpenter of Millington, Tenn.;
granddaughter Penny and Bob Lomenick of Potts Camp; two
great-grandchildren, Erin and Eli Lomenick
He
was preceded in death by two brothers, William and Hugh (Jim) Carpenter
of Holly Springs.

were Kenneth Crisp, Teddy Todd, Roy Carpenter, Ronnie Carpenter,
Kenneth Carpenter and Brad Carpenter.

Earl Gandy, 85, of Olive Branch, died Jan. 31, 2010. He was a Baptist,
a laborer with Mohasco Furniture Co. and a veteran.
Services
were held at 10 a.m. on Feb. 3 at Holly Springs Funeral Home Chapel.
Burial was in Chewalla Cemetery in Potts Camp.
He
leaves four daughters, Louise L. Fisher of Memphis, Tenn.; Regena
Reihl, Gale McDonald, Pam McCullough, all of Olive Branch; six
grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Henry Roberts, 57, of Holly Springs, died Jan. 31, 2010 at Trinity
Mission. He was a painter.
Services
will be held at 2 p.m. on Feb. 6 at Heritage Apostolic Church, where he
was a member. Bro. Tony Roberts will officiate. Holly Springs Funeral
Home is in charge of arrangements.
He
leaves two
sons, Jason Wright, Allen Wright, both of Memphis, Tenn.; his daughter,
Carrie Wright of Texas; three brothers, Timothy Roberts of Red Banks,
Ronnie Roberts of Memphis, Tenn., Eugene Roberts of Hardy, Ark.; three
sisters, Nancy Webster of Red Banks, Susan Kelly of Memphis, Tenn.,
Tammy Alred of Springfield, Fla.; and three grandchildren.

Lee Stewart, 64, of Holly Springs, died Jan. 29, 2010 at Alliance
HealthCare System. He was a church steward, a member of the finance
committee and men’s breakfast club. He was a retired parts
assembler
with Marshall Industries.

10 a.m. on Feb. 2 at Calvin Chapel United Methodist Church, where he
was a member. Burial was in Cottrell Memorial Garden. Rev. Edward Moses
officiated. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home was in charge of
arrangements.

Harris of Holly Springs, Ernestine Lewis, Katie Burns, Cornelius Green,

Joe Dunlap of Festus, Mo., Charles Stewart of Des Moines, Iowa, Lorenzo
Stewart, Tracy Stewart, both of Memphis, Tenn., Tony Stewart of
Radcliff, Ky.; and two grandchildren.

and Greg Hubbard. Honorary pallbearers were Dereak James, Joe Earl
