MHSAA announces North State Tournament locations Some Marshall County teams could host North State if the post-season goes in their favor until that point. The Mississippi High School Activities Association has announced the sites for the 2009-10 North State basketball tournaments (February 18-20) for classes 1A-6A. The first school listed will be the host site if it advances to the North State tournament. If it fails to make it to the tournament, the next school in line that qualifies for North State will be the host site. In the case of both girls and boys teams earning the hosting duties, the school will choose which event they want to host and the next school eligible will become the host. North State Sites 1A Girls – Potts Camp, Wheeler, West Union, H.W. Byers, Shaw, Myrtle 1A Boys – Myrtle, Biggersville, Thrasher, Shaw Houlka, Okolona 2A Girls – New Site, JZ George 2A Boys – Baldwyn, Hickory Flat, Calhoun City 3A Girls – Belmont, Holly Springs, Aberdeen, Ripley, Nettleton, Kossuth 3A Boys – Booneville, Holly Springs, Ripley, Aberdeen, Nettleton, SV Marshall 4A Girls – New Albany, Lafayette Co., Humphreys Co., Noxubee Co., North Panola 4A Boys – Pontotoc, Tishomingo Co., New Albany, Noxubee Co. 5A Girls – Indianola Gentry 5A Boys – Oxford, New Hope, Indianola Gentry 6A Girls – NW Rankin, Horn Lake, Clinton, Tupelo 6A Boys – Starkville, Olive Branch, Vicksburg, Tupelo, Madison Central. District tournaments are set for the week of February 8-13, with the first round of North State to follow February 15-16 at first- and second-place winners in the individual districts. |
