Byhalia,
Holly Springs parades this weekend
Christmas
parades are this week in Byhalia and Holly Springs and the following
week in Potts Camp.
The
Town of Byhalia will sponsor its first annual Christmas Parade this
Friday, Dec. 3, at 6:30 p.m.

Also
this Friday, the Christmas Tree and Display Lighting will be held at
Brunswick Park in historic downtown Byhalia starting at 5:30 p.m.
All
are encouraged to visit downtown Byhalia Friday and celebrate the
season.
The
Light Up the Town Lighting Contest runs from December 12-16 in Byhalia
with judging on December 16. It is sponsored by the Byhalia Garden Club
and Byhalia Beautiful. There will be cash prizes in business and
residential categories.
The
Holly Springs Christmas Parade, sponsored by the chamber of commerce,
will be held this Saturday, Dec. 4, at 5 p.m.
To
enter, call the chamber, 252-2515, or coordinator Greg Campbell,
544-6600. No four-wheelers or all-terrain vehicles will be allowed due
to safety issues.
The
Town of Potts Camp will host its parade on Saturday, Dec. 11, starting
at 12 noon.

Byhalia
police officers go to variety of calls
The
Byhalia Police Department responded to 46 calls last week.
Chief
Gary Looney released the following report – miscellaneous,
15; escorts,
11; juveniles, 2; thefts, 1; disturbances, 2; animals, 1; assists, 3;
motor vehicle accidents, 1; fires, 1; medical, 9.
Byhalia
police officers also made seven arrests during the past week.
Friends
of Library meeting next Tuesday
Friends
of the Library will meet Tuesday, Dec. 7, at noon at the main branch on
Gholson Avenue in Holly Springs.
The
guest speaker will be Kristin Lamberson, naturalist and horticulturist
with the National Audubon Society at Strawberry Plains. She will talk
about winter gardening.
A
business session will be at 11:30 a.m. Refreshments will be served.
