Choice Birthday and beach My Thanksgiving week began with a special surprise for a very special lady. My mother, Lavelle Burleson, turned 80 November 10. Corner Sam and Sarah were always there, always encouraging Sam and Sarah were one of the most interesting and unusual church couples I ever knew. They lived outside this county, and I doubt anyone who reads this column will have known them. Otherwise I would not write what I am about to say, for they were modest people — the sort who would be embarrassed to be singled out in any way. Letter To The Editor Come together: While getting my weekly haircut, my barber informed me of recent events in Holly Springs, with all the other problems, that we now have a group of young idiots who call themselves the Black Out Squad. I am told that this same group of young men was involved in an altercation on the campus of Rust College. I would like to say to the citizens of Holly Springs, Marshall County, that this situation needs to be nipped in the bud. I call on all citizens to come together and deal with this situation before it gets out of control. I call on the police department and the sheriff’s department to crack down on this group with the citizens of Holly Springs 100 percent behind them. Concerned
