Lady Lions, Hawks win county clashes By CLAUDE VINSON Sports Editor If
one has to face a perennial, it is probably best if the trial is on
familiar turf. And this worked for the Byers Lady Lions Friday night as
they renewed their regular season rivalry with the Holly High Lady
Hawks. The Lady Lions owned a hefty lead in the
early parts of the first quarter. Coach Jason Thompson soon relieved
all of his starters. The replacements mounted a stifling defense which
was super stingy and held the Lady Hawks to four points, 21-4. Full Story

happened without a lot of hoop-la and fanfare. The beleaguered coach of
“America’s Team” was shown the gate prior to the Cowboys’ game with the
New York Giants. It would be safe to say that Wade Phillips knew that
his demise was imminent. There are Dallas fans who had been calling for
the action since shortly after the current campaign began. Full Story
Deer season opens Mississippi’s white-tailed deer hunting season with guns opened November 20 and runs through December 1. Hunting
with dogs is allowed during this season. Legal deer include either sex
on private land and legal bucks on open public land. Full Story

Cards fall to Rebels By BARRY BURLESON Editor Rivals
from neighboring counties collided on the basketball floor Monday, Nov.
15, with the Benton County teams earning the hard-fought sweep. The
Hickory Flat Lady Rebels went into Potts Camp and snatched a 57-51 win,
while the Rebels pulled away late for a 67-50 victory. Full Story

couple of high schools in Marshall County will see athletic schedule
changes due to the reclassification released last week by the
Mississippi High School Activities Association. The
new classifications will be for the 2011-12 and 2012-13 academic years
and are based on enrollment figures provided to the State Department of
