Potts Camp teams third in state

Cross country runners

Both the Potts Camp girls and boys finished third out of 17 teams in the Mississippi High School Activities Association Class 1A Cross Country Championships.

The state meet was held November 6 at Mississippi College’s Choctaw Trails in Clinton.

The Lady Cardinals, with 90 points, trailed first-place West Union (47) and runner-up Myrtle (49).

Individual results for the Potts Camp girls follow.

• (7) Shauna Haney, 17:34; (9) Amber Cooper, 17:42; (26) Dana Jeffries, 19:38; (27) Anna Summerlin, 19:38; (28) Tenesha Woods, 19:42; (50) Abby Farr, 21:15; and (62) Monesha Pegues, 22:02.

There were 83 runners in the Class 1A girls competition.

The Potts Camp boys, with 73 points, trailed first-place Myrtle (55) and runner-up French Camp (67).

Individual results for the Cardinals follow.

• (9) Kris Roberts, 18:44; (12) Matt Swinford, 19:09; (15) Brantley Harris, 19:19; (16) Devin Holmes, 19:24; (21) Miles Moore, 19:45; (24) Ben Bolden, 19:50; and (32) Jordan Harris, 20:03.

There were 97 runners in the Class 1A boys competition.
