Beckley to be honored for vision, leadership
The Tri-State Defender will host its second Men of Excellence Awards Reception Friday, Nov. 19, at 6 p.m. at the Holiday Inn University of Memphis, 3700 Central Avenue.
The annual event will generally celebrate 50 African-American men who motivate and inspire others through their vision and leadership, exceptional achievements and participation in community service.
Bernal Smith, president and publisher, said, “We are extremely pleased to recognize and honor such a distinguished and deserving group of men. We thought it might be difficult to duplicate our inaugural group of honorees from the 2009 Men of Excellence, but this year’s group is equally impressive and certainly deserving.”
The 2010 honorees include Dr. David Beckley, president of Rust College in Holly Springs.
