Bank robbery suspects ID’d By SUE WATSON Staff Writer One
suspect is in custody and arrest warrants for four others have been
issued in the robberies of the Bank of Holly Springs at Slayden (May
19) and the Citizens Bank of Barton (June 10). Sheriff
Kenny Dickerson said two vehicles and two handguns believed to have
been used in the armed robberies have been recovered. A
joint operation was initiated by area law enforcement agencies upon a
tip called in to Marshall County Crime Stoppers and also partly upon
information displayed on the Internet, the sheriff said. One
suspect has been arrested in Memphis, Tenn. None of the suspects are
from Marshall County. Two suspects have lengthy criminal records and
two are believed to have participated in both bank robberies, he said. Dickerson
said some or possibly all of the suspects are going to be charged with
other federal and state crimes. The names of the suspects are being
withheld until the investigations are completed. He
praised the investigative efforts of Maj. Kelly McMillen, and other
agencies – the FBI, the Safe Streets Task Force (of Tennessee), the
Secret Service and the U.S. Marshals’ Office. “They did a tremendous job,” Dickerson said. A
red Toyota Yaris and a Pontiac Grand Prix, believed to have been used
in the bank robberies, are being sent to the Batesville Crime Lab for
forensics testing, he said.
