Workers
with the Holly Springs Utility Department, assisted by the firemen and
police, repaired a gas leak Sunday at the intersection of Gholson and
South Center Street. A leak had developed in a two-inch line that
connects to a high-pressure, four-inch main, according to Mitch
Tomlinson with the gas department. Full Story

Waterford to take off a few layers.

Lucy Carpenter guessed wrong about voter turnout in Marshall County Tuesday, Nov. 2, and she’s glad. “I
was looking for about 6,000,” the long-time circuit clerk said. “I
underestimated. The turnout was really good, especially considering the

and long-time associates Thursday at funeral services in Holly Springs.
He was laid to rest in Potts Camp.
Minor, northern district highway commissioner
and former state senator, died November 1 while attending a meeting

Potts Camp man makes difference in Iraq A
native of Potts Camp, Leslie Anderson, is using his leadership and
supervisory skills to support our troops in Iraq while overseeing a
multinational and multilingual staff. Anderson is a local hero who,
for the second time, answered the call of duty. Full Story
Governor will set special election Secretary
of State Delbert Hosemann’s office has reviewed state law regarding the
vacancy in the Northern District transportation commissioner’s office.
This vacancy occurred due to the November 1 death of Commissioner Bill

Downtown tour
About
130 students from the Holly Springs Primary School’s second grade
classrooms enjoyed a tour of downtown businesses and the courthouse.
They were guests at several of the banks and were provided a tour of
the courtroom, judges’ chamber, little jail and clerk’s offices. Land
records go back to 1836 and some land records go all the way back to
the Indian days, said chancery clerk Chuck Thomas. Children were
presented with a gift packet as they departed. |

Gary Looney released the following report – alarm calls, 5;
miscellaneous, 5; escorts, 2; juveniles, 2; disturbances, 1; assists,
2; motor vehicle accidents, 1; fires, 3; medical, 12. The Byhalia Police Department also made five arrests during the past week, according to Looney.
