Academy turned to the big play to blast Oak Hill Friday night at West
Point.
The
Patriots scored on plays of 75, 31, 39, 23 and 25 yards as they rolled
over the Raiders 35-7. MA improved to 7-2 overall with the non-district
win.

Cards finish
strong

too many football teams play two games in a school week, much less win
them both. But that’s the way Potts Camp ended its successful
season.
The
junior varsity Cardinals beat Coldwater 14-0 on Monday night, Oct. 18,
and then routed Jumpertown 50-12 just three days later, Oct. 21.

Lions come up
short vs. Houlka

H.W. Byers Lions tried to scratch back Friday night versus another
bunch of cats.
Trailing
13-0 entering the fourth quarter, they rallied for one touchdown but
couldn’t get another and lost 13-6 to the Houlka Wildcats.

Hawks fall to
ranked Tigers

High tangled with a top-five-ranked group of Tigers Friday night and
the result was a 62-0 district loss.
Marcus
Autry, first-year head coach of the Hawks, said Charleston has a lot of
speed but his team also contributed to the Tigers’ success
with many
mistakes - including a blocked punt and a couple of interceptions.

All-stars
from MA
Marshall
Academy was well represented in the Mississippi Association of
Independent Schools (MAIS) all-star soccer game on October 13 at
Jackson Academy. Playing for the North squad were (from left) MA
seniors Claire Liddy, Megan Anderson and Lauralee Fant. The South won
the game 5-2. Liddy was also named to the All-District 1-AA soccer team
for the 2010 season.

Haunted golf
course Oct. 28-31
The
Marshall Academy girls soccer team is sponsoring a haunted golf course
hayride October 28-31.
The
event, which will be held at Kirkwood, is from 6:45 to 9 p.m. on
October 28 and 31 and from 6:45 p.m. to 10 p.m. on October 29-30.
There
will be a concession stand available, plus face painting and pumpkin
painting.
The
cost of the wagon ride is $5 per person.
