Fall Fest on courtsquare Saturday • Halloween trick-or-treating Sunday; 10 p.m. curfew The
Holly Springs Main Street Association is sponsoring a Community Fall
Festival Saturday, Oct. 30, from 6 p.m.-8:30 p.m. downtown. Areas for the event include the courthouse lawn, and College and Market streets at the square. As
organizers continue to fine-hone the details, some expected events
include free candy, popcorn, games and entertainment, according to Judy
Smith with the association. Grades 7-12 from all area schools have been invited and local fraternities and sororities have been invited to open booths. Some highlights include: • face painting • pin the spider on the web •soda pop ring toss • lucky duck pond • costume contests - ages 2-5, 6-11, and 12-15 • hair contest - dyed, spiked, etc. • wrap a mummy - ages 16 and above • hallelujah good time gospel music • “Thriller,” performed by Holy Family School Sunday,
Oct. 31, is slated as the official day for Halloween activities in the
city with a curfew set at 10 p.m., according to mayor Andre’ DeBerry. He also urges everyone to come out and enjoy the Main Street Fall Festival on Saturday. The events are free of charge. Parents
or guardians are asked to accompany children during trick-or-treating
activities to assure their safety in crossing streets. Extra security has been added at the police department to ensure public safety, according to chief Robert Pearson.
