Union
University played steady golf in blustery conditions at Kirkwood
National Golf Club in Holly Springs Thursday to capture the 2010 Blue
Mountain College Fall Invitational. With winds
gusting to more than 30 miles per hour over the 6,751-yard, par 72
Kirkwood course, Union’s Micah Gentle captured medalist honors with a
41-37—78. BMC’s Michael Collie and Union’s Brett
Barry were one shot back, and the three were the only players in the
field of 41 golfers to break 80. Union’s “red”
squad of Gentle, Barry, Ryan Chandler (83) and Steven Coffelt (82) won
the team honors with a 332. BMC finished second at 336, followed by
Martin Methodist University at 345, Union’s “white” team at 349; Bethel
University at 351, and Union’s “black” team at 361. 2010 BMC
