Absentee voting underway By BARRY BURLESON Editor Absentee voting is available for the Tuesday, Nov. 2, general election. Absentee
ballots, for those who will be unable to make it to the polls on
election day for a variety of reasons, are available through the
Marshall County Circuit Clerk’s office. For more information, call the office at 662-252-3434. Regular
business hours for absentee voting at the circuit clerk’s office in the
courthouse are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. The office will
also be open the next two Saturdays, Oct. 23 and Oct. 30, from 8 a.m.
to 12 noon for absentee voting. The deadline
for voting absentee in person is October 30 at noon. Absentee ballots
being returned by mail must be in the circuit clerk’s office by 5 p.m.
Monday, Nov. 1. On election day, Nov. 2, polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. For a sample ballot, see page 5. The
5 South Holly Springs voting precinct, usually located at the Holly
Springs National Guard Armory, has been moved for general election up
the road to the Shriners building, according to circuit clerk Lucy
Carpenter. The Shriners building is located on
the right side of Highway 4 East, if driving east, and directly across
the road from the old nursing home which is now a school. Carpenter
said the 5 South Holly Springs precinct is being moved from the armory
because the building is under complete renovation and will not be
ready for occupancy by the Tuesday, Nov. 2, election.
