Alleged panty thief nabbed
By SUE WATSON
Marshall County investigators assisted with the arrest of a man living in the Laws Hill community who has allegedly gained fame as the “panty pirate.”
Joseph Paul Lillo, 32, of the Laws Hill Road community, was arrested and turned over to authorities at the Oxford Police Department, according to Sheriff Kenny Dickerson. Authorities believe Lillo is a suspect who had broken into about 14 homes in the Oxford area and stolen undergarments.
Lillo was arrested Sunday at Laws Hill when he was served a warrant by the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department. Lillo became a suspect Saturday when a witness reported seeing the suspect’s vehicle at her neighbor’s house on Eagle Lane on Saturday and took down the license plate numbers.
Sheriff Dickerson said items believed to have been stolen by Lillo were recovered at his residence after his living quarters were searched. He said four warrants will be issued for Lillo’s arrest when he is returned to Marshall County to face burglary charges of a similar nature.
