Shedding a Raider Brian Novarese (3) of Marshall looks to shed a Raider Thursday night using the stiff arm. |
The Marshall Academy junior high Patriots earned a shutout in their final home game of the season. MA knocked off Oak Hill Academy 20-0 last Thursday night and evened its record at 3-3 with one game remaining. Leading
a stout defensive effort was Dakota Dailey with eight tackles and two
interceptions. Brian Novarese had five tackles and an interception.
Adding five tackles each were Logan Liddy, B.W. Langston, Thomas
Faulkenbery and Jacob Driggers. Devin McGregor and Trey Bingle had
fumble recoveries. Offensively, Dailey rushed for 170 yards and Novarese 80. Dailey
opened Marshall’s second possession with a 17-yard run into Oak Hill
territory, and Novarese followed with a first-down carry. McGregor
scored the touchdown on a 9-yard run with 7:56 to go in the second
quarter. A try-for-two was not successful. | Two points
Thomas Faulkenbery (2) of Marshall catches a pass for a two-point conversion versus Oak Hill. |
In the
last minute of the first half, Dailey picked off a Raider pass and
returned it 75 yards for six points. He then threw to Thomas
Faulkenbery for the two-point conversion. The
second half was scoreless until the 1:24 mark of the fourth quarter.
Dailey scored on a 30-yard quarterback keeper. The try-for-two failed. The MA junior high football team concludes its season this Thursday night, Oct. 7, with a trip to Indianola. |
