The Marshall Academy soccer squad knocked off Strayhorn last week and fell to Heritage Academy. Hank Owens, Kent Feathers and Chase Smith scored goals in MA’s 3-0 home win over Strayhorn Tuesday, Jan. 19. Coach Lance McGregor said his team started sloppy. “We
really took a beating for the first 20 minutes,” he said. “They had
four shots on us and we hadn’t even gotten deep into their defenders
yet.” Full Story
County rivals • Lady Cardinals, Hawks earn wins By CLAUDE VINSON Sports Editor This would be the rubber match of the season for the two squads, Holly Springs and Potts Camp. They
had split back in November on the Hawks’ turf. The fans turn out big
for all the intra-county rivalries and this one would be played to a
packed house. The tip went to the Lady Cardinals
and Kenyotta Jenkins started going to the hoop early. Operating mainly
from the left side, she was negating any defense by the Lady Hawks.
Helped out by Samantha Stinson and Tenesha Woods, Potts Camp developed
a 16-point lead at the opening quarters end at 26-10. Full Story

the best of the best on February 7. If one were to ask the Colts or the

Byers splits with Myrtle By CLAUDE VINSON Sports Editor The
last meeting between these two was on December 11, 2009, at Myrtle. The
Lady Hawks played a much tougher game on their home court. It
was a close contest and maybe the H.W. Byers Lady Lions were
remembering that one. After trading baskets for a couple of trips they
began playing in the paint. Myrtle couldn’t combat the close-in
shooting and was left behind 28-11 at the end of one. Full Story

North Panola Lady Cougars roared into Indian territory on January 19

setting Dash Montgomery on the left wing. She evaded defenses and
knocked down a pair of treys to give Panola the 19-12 mark in the first
