| Police respond to assaults, burglaries The Holly Springs Police Department investigated 11 calls last week. Damage to a vehicle was reported in the 200 block of Martin Luther King Drive January 18. A report of trespassing was made January 19 in the 100 block of Rust Avenue. A simple assault was reported in the 200 block of Clara Street January 19. A
domestic violence-simple assault was reported in the 100 block of
Sharon Heights January 22. Police arrested and charged Michael Walton,
23, of Holly Springs, in connection with the incident. A malicious mischief report was made in the 200 block of Chesterman Street January 22. A
vehicle was burglarized in the 100 block of Rust Avenue January 22. The
driver and passenger side windows were shattered and two cell phones,
two purses containing school books, perfume and other miscellaneous
items were reported missing. A petit larceny was reported in the 500 block of Highway 7 North January 22. An
automobile was burglarized in the 100 block of Gholson Avenue January
23. A Plano bag, a Stringer flashlight and a Clarion Hi-Definition CD
player were reported missing. Entry was gained through the passenger
side door. An automobile burglary was reported in
the 500 block of Craft Street January 23. Missing from the vehicle were
a Sig Sauer P229 handgun, a .40 Sig Sauer 12-round magazine, one
military knife and six boxes of .45 caliber target ammunition. An
automobile burglary was reported in the 500 block of Clay Products Road
January 23. A model 700 ADL hunting rifle and a Carlziess scope were
reported stolen. A petit larceny was reported in the 400 block of Memphis Street January 24. Other
activities for the week included the following – no driver’s license,
2; driving while license suspended, 4; speeding, 3: disregard for
traffic device, 2; no tag/expired tag, 2; no proof of insurance, 1;
careless driving, 2; DUI first offense, 3; possession of marijuana, 1;
contempt of court, 7; trespassing, 1; improper turn, 1; and child
restraint violation, 1.
