County school
board to meet at Mary Reid
The
Marshall County School Board of Education will hold its next monthly
meeting Tuesday, Feb. 9, at Mary Reid School.
The
meeting will begin at 6 p.m. The school is located at 160 Pontotoc
Avenue in Potts Camp.
Holly Springs
begins baseball registration
The
Holly Springs Parks and Recreation Department is now registering for
Dizzy Dean baseball and softball.
The
countywide league is for ages 3 to 16 (girls and boys).
Register
at Holly Springs City Hall between the hours of 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.,
Monday through Friday.

U.S. Attorney
Greenlee announces retirement
Jim
Greenlee, U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Mississippi, is
retiring this month.
A
reception in his honor is planned for Friday, Jan. 29, from 2 p.m.-4
p.m. at the Oxford University United Methodist Church all-purpose
building. The event is open to the public.
Greenlee
is a 1981 graduate of the University of Mississippi School of Law and
served in the U.S. Navy and the U.S. Naval Reserve. He has served at
the U.S. Attorney’s office since 1987 when he worked as assistant U.S.
Attorney before being appointed by President George W. Bush in October
2001 as U.S. Attorney.
An
interim will be appointed to serve in his spot until a new attorney is
appointed by President Barack Obama’s administration.
Byhalia police
officers go to variety of calls
The
Byhalia Police Department responded to 29 calls during the past week.
Chief
Gary Looney released the following report – alarm calls, 1; motor
vehicle accidents, 3; disturbances, 1; escorts, 2; juvenile-related
incidents, 1; assists, 1; medical assistance, 7; fires, 1;
miscellaneous calls, 12.
Byhalia
police officers also made five arrests during the past week.
Newspaper
announces 2010 Profile Edition
The
South Reporter will publish its annual Profile Edition Thursday, March
11.
This
year’s edition will be titled “All Kinds of Character(s) –
featuring Marshall County’s people.
