Police respond to assaults, mischief Fifteen incidents were reported to police for the last week, according to chief Robert Pearson. September 19 • an attempted burglary of a dwelling took place in the 400 block of Peyton Road. Sept. 20 • a simple assault was reported in the 100 block of West Woodward Avenue. • a trespassing was reported in the 200 block of MLK Drive. • a disorderly conduct was reported in the area of West College and West Boundary. Sept. 21 •
a burglary of a dwelling was reported in the 100 block of Pinewood.
Taken from the residence were two pairs of Jordan tennis shoes and a
32” television. • a domestic violence-simple
assault was reported in the 200 block of West Valley. Bernie Byers Jr.,
18, of Potts Camp, was arrested and charged in connection with the
incident. Sept. 22 • an automobile was stolen from a residence in the 400 block of Coopwood. •
a malicious mischief was reported in the 100 block of Southern Circle.
The ceiling, doors and countertops of a house were damaged. • a report of uttering forgery was made in the 300 block of East Valley. Sept. 23 • a sexual battery was reported in the 500 block of J.M. Ash Drive. Sept. 24 • a simple assault was reported in the 100 block of West Woodward. • a simple assault causing bodily injury and a report of impersonating an officer were made. Sept. 25 • an automobile burglary was reported. • a shoplifting was reported in the 900 block of Mackie Drive. • a simple assault was reported in the area of Memphis Street. Officers
reported these additional activities for the week - speeding, 3;
driving while license suspended, 5; driving while license suspended
(driving while license suspended because of a DUI - consent law), 1; no
driver’s license/expired license, 2; no proof of insurance, 3; seatbelt
violation, 1; and DUI refusal, 1.
