Marshall junior high Patriots fall to Kirk Academy
The Marshall Academy junior high football team saw its record go even at 2-2 with a loss at Kirk Thursday night.
The Patriots grabbed an early 6-0 lead but it was pretty much all Raiders after that. The final score was 32-12.
On the game’s first play, Dakota Dailey ran for 75 yards. Then on fourth down he threw to Colt Lindsey for a 9-yard gain to the Kirk 2. Dailey scored on a 1-yard quarterback sneak.
But the Raiders took the lead for good late in the first. They scored on a 51-yard run and also added the two-point conversion.
Kirk added two touchdowns in the second quarter plus two conversions to take a 24-6 half-time advantage. The touchdowns came on runs of 1 and 10 yards.
The Raiders padded their lead to open the third quarter – putting together a 10-play scoring drive.
MA’s Brian Novarese answered with a 76-yard kickoff return for six points with 3:30 left in the period. It sliced the deficit to 32-12.
The Patriots put together a 13-play drive to the Kirk 5 to end the game but time expired before they could reach the end zone.
Dailey and Novarese led the MA defense with 13 and 10 tackles, respectively.
Thomas Faulkenbery had kickoff returns of 19 and 16 yards.
MA will host North Delta this Thursday at 7p.m.
