The Marshall Academy Lady Patriots dropped a pair of close games on the road last week. The MA girls fell 9-6 Monday, Sept. 13, at Indianola. The Lady Colonels had just three hits but 10 Marshall errors allowed the nine runs to score. Mallary Covington pitched a complete game. She struck out two and walked two. Kat Moore led the MA offense with three hits. Chelsey Gilliam added two hits and Darcie Gibson had one. The Lady Patriots then turned in a strong performance Tuesday, Sept. 14, at Senatobia. They lost 4-2 to Magnolia Heights. “We
played extremely well against a team that had beaten us badly in our
last outing against them,” coach Susan Rodgers said about her Lady
Pats’ performance. “We started three sixth graders in our lineup while Magnolia started six seniors. “We are excited about our future – knowing that we can hang with an older team.” Elizabeth Skelton pitched the complete game versus the Lady Chiefs. She gave up two hits, struck out two and walked six. Gilliam connected for a solo home run over the center field wall. Also getting hits for Marshall were Moore, Skelton, Hannah Pasco and Hailey McMinn. The
Lady Patriots (8-13) wrapped up their season with a home game Monday of
this week versus Delta Academy and a road game Tuesday, Sept. 21, at
North Delta School. |
