No target practice in subdivisions By SUE WATSON The Marshall County Board of Supervisors has approved an ordinance that will prohibit discharging of firearms in platted subdivisions. The motion to restrict firearms target practice in subdivisions followed complaints of residents in David Cove and elsewhere, according to supervisor George Zinn III. A Victorian Gothic-style house built in the early 1800s on Randolph Street is being restored by the Holly Springs Federated Improvement Club. The house has served many families, first the slave owner who built it, then two African American families who purchased it, and many students, faculty and couples who boarded at the house. Benton district leaps in levels By SUE WATSON The Benton County School District saw its label go from At Risk of Failing to Successful, based upon the huge success of the Hickory Flat School, according to superintendent Patrick Washington. This was an oversight on the part of the newspaper. That entire list is included this week. Byhalia takes steps toward Main Street By SUE WATSON If there is anyone ready to work for the vision of Byhalia, Kent Mathis is certainly one who is. He has put in a lot of effort trying to pull a community team together to bring Mississippi Main Street to the Marshall County town.

Suspect arrested in theft of golf carts By SUE WATSON A Collierville, Tenn., man was arrested following the theft of two golf carts from Kirkwood National in Holly Springs June 22, according the sheriff Kenny Dickerson.
