White Oak
Festival scheduled October 9
The
29th annual White Oak Festival will be held Saturday, Oct. 9, in
downtown Byhalia from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Entertainment
will feature the Memphis Road Dawgs and more. There will be arts and
crafts booths, food vendors and lots of fun activities.

County Relay
for Life looking for volunteers
The
Marshall County Relay for Life needs energetic, committed and
community-minded people who can carry out duties without immediate
supervision.
No
degree is needed; just a willingness to work.
Training
will be provided Saturday, Sept. 18, from 9 a.m. to noon at the Eddie
Lee Smith Multi-Purpose Building in Holly Springs.
Volunteers
are needed from Byhalia, Potts Camp, Slayden, Mt. Pleasant, Chulahoma,
Waterford and Holly Springs.
The
2010 Relay for Life raised $50,442.95. Since its inception in 1999,
Marshall County has raised a total of $441,731.50.
Money
raised goes to the American Cancer Society for research and patients’
care.
The
next Marshall County Relay for Life will be June 10, 2011.

Byers
homecoming includes parade, more
H.W.
Byers High School is hosting homecoming activities this Friday, Sept.
17.
The
“Mighty Lions” invite everyone to come and participate in the
homecoming parade. Parade line-up will begin at 4:30 p.m., and the
parade will start at 5 p.m.
The
school has re-established its football program, playing a varsity
schedule this year.
Pre-game
festivities, which will recognize former coaches and players of the
H.W. Byers-Sandflat football program, will begin at 6:30 p.m.
The
Lions will play Jumpertown in the homecoming football game at 7:30 p.m.
Come out and support the team.
