Dr.
Elbert Hunt, who practices general and family medicine, was granted
permission to build a 2,500 square foot clinic on his property at 987
St. Paul Road. He came before the county zoning board August 11
and was told 11 responses returned were for the clinic and two people
objected, saying the clinic would lower their property values or that
the clinic was not wanted in the neighborhood. Dr. Hunt, who has
practiced with a group in the Hernando area, according to zoning
director Conway Moore, was granted permission to build the clinic by
special exception. His property is zoned Agricultural-Residential. Zoning
board member Edward Moses motioned to approve the clinic saying, “It is
a good model for the future – giving physicians back to the local area.” “I think this is one of the best uses of that property I can think of for this community,” added board member Bill Kinkade. “He
has lived out there for years,” Moore said. “He will open his own
clinic and be a family doctor. From my communication, a lot of people
out there have already been going to him. St. Paul Road is a heavily
populated area. I think this is going to be good for St. Paul.” |
