Road closure on 349 near Potts Camp
The Mississippi Department of Transportation (MDOT) announces the following traffic alert to motorists traveling on State Route 349 in Marshall County.
State Route 349, approximately one-half mile south of Potts Camp, will be closed to truck traffic exceeding four tons. The purpose of this closure is for bridge repairs. Smaller passenger vehicles will not be affected by this closure.
The closure will be in effect for one month. MDOT regrets any inconvenience this closure may cause to the traveling public.
In addition, the Potts Camp School administration would like to thank the parents for their patience and for making this temporary inconvenience such a smooth transition.

Byhalia busy with upcoming activities
Byhalia has three important events coming up in August to which the public is invited.
A mini-Relay for Life is being held Thursday, Aug. 26, from 5:30 p.m.-8:30 p.m. at the Byhalia Town Hall gym. Food will be available and walking and eating will take place under the comfort of air conditioning.
Sounds of Summer Saturday, Aug. 28, begins with an Antique Car Show on Brunswick Avenue - registration from 9 a.m-12 noon. Judging is from 1 p.m. - 3 p.m. Sounds of Summer street event will be held from 6 p.m.-9 p.m. Saturday on Church Street and includes karaoke, games, cake walks, raffles and musical entertainment.
August 31 and September 1-2 are big days for Byhalia as the town holds Main Street charrettes. Public meetings are at town hall at 6 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday. All hands are encouraged to get on deck for this important activity.
