Lions win, Indians tie in Byhalia jamboree

The reservation at Byhalia was a hot bed of activity Saturday evening as coach Markeith Washington and his Indians invited five other schools to showcase their football talents in a pre-season jamboree.

Marshall Academy won two and tied one in a preseason exam Thursday but the real test starts this week.
The Patriots tied North Delta and then beat Indianola and Kirk in the District 1-AA Jamboree at Grenada. They kick off the regular season Friday night, Aug. 20, versus Rossville (Tenn.) at home. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m.
MA girls improve in losses
The Marshall Academy soccer team dropped a pair of close games last week.
MA fell 3-1 at home to Magnolia Heights and 5-1 in Cleveland versus Bayou.

While all gridiron squads battled sweltering field conditions and juggled practice sessions dictated by the extreme heat, three of the major college squads in Mississippi were busy attending to other attention grabbing problems.
Lady Pats beat Tunica, Marvell
What a difference a week makes.
The Marshall Academy softball team traveled to Washington School August 9 to play the Class AAA powerhouse for the second time in seven days. This time around the Lady Patriots lost a hard-fought, 7-4 battle compared to a 20-0 loss in the season opener.
Bynum wins jr. tour crown
