Marion Virginia Wynne Bonds Marion
Virginia Wynne Bonds died July 21, 2010, at Hospice Ministries in
Ridgeland. She was the widow of Bert Bonds of Holly Springs. She was
the daughter of Thomas Carey Wynne and Grace Proctor Wynne, who
predeceased her. A former resident of Holly Springs, she had lived in
Jackson for almost six years with her daughter, Barbara. Graveside
services were held at 10 a.m. on July 24 at Hill Crest Cemetery. Holly
Springs Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. She
leaves a sister, Betty Wynne Rather (Alec) of Knoxville; her children,
Barbara Hutchinson (Ronnie), Bobby Bonds (Susan) of Byhalia, David
Bonds (Denise) of Holly Springs, and Grace Bonds of Holly Springs; her
grandchildren Ryan Hutchinson of Nashville, Wynne Boatwright, Hannah
Boatwright, Dunn Boatwright, Josh Bonds and Jordan Bonds, all of Holly
Springs, Bo Bonds of Byhalia, Battle Ewing in Afghanistan, Amery Ewing
Moore of Waterford; great-grandchild, Sayde Bell Moore; her dearest
friends Mary Jenne of Collierville and Harriet Cochran of Holly
Springs, along with many other family members and friends. Remembrances may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital in Memphis, Tenn. Dovie Grace Gallagher Dovie
Grace Gallagher, 97, of Byhalia, died July 18, 2010, at St. Francis
Hospital in Memphis, Tenn. She was the widow of William A. Gallagher.
She was a Baptist and a seamstress with Gem, Inc. Services
were held at 1 p.m. on July 22 at First Baptist Church of Byhalia.
Burial was in Byhalia Cemetery. Holly Springs Funeral Home was in
charge of arrangements. She leaves a
granddaughter, Becky Blanton of Nettleton; great-grandchildren, Amy
Hart of Collierville, Tenn., April Randlese of Southaven; and several
great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Bettye Brewer.  Alex Graham
Alex
Graham, 61, of Memphis, Tenn., formerly of Bethlehem, died July 21,
2010, at his home. He was a retired truck driver with J and J Trucking
in Memphis. Services will be held at 1 p.m. on
July 30 at Mt. Olive MB Church, where he was a former member. Burial
will be in Baptist Hill MB Church Cemetery in Bethlehem. Rev. Anthony
Marion will officiate. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home is in charge
of arrangements. He leaves his wife, Crystal
Williams Graham of Memphis, Tenn.; a daughter, Jennifer Scott of
Naperville, Ill.; four stepchildren, Courtney Pipkins, Carlton
Williams, Chamekia Williams, LaSean Williams, all of Memphis, Tenn.;
two sisters, Lillie Johnson of Oswego, Ill., Ostella Pegues of Aurora,
Ill.; two brothers, Urmit Graham Jr. of Dallas, Tx., Chester Graham of
Aurora, Ill.; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by siblings Ometta Kimmons, Mary Liggins and John Thomas Graham.  Bearus Moore
Bearus
(Barry) Moore, 45, of Byhalia, died July 23, 2010, at Baptist
Hospital-DeSoto in Southaven. He was a baseball and softball player, a
member of TNT Ball Club and former employee of Carrier Corp. in
Collierville, Tenn. Services will be held at 12
noon on July 31 at Mt. Pisgah CME Church in Cayce, where he was a
member. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Rev. Eddie J. Wilson
will officiate. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home will be in charge
of arrangements. He leaves his wife, Glenda D.
Cathey Moore; his mother, Mary Anner Mosley Moore of Red Banks; a son,
Christopher Malone of Victoria; a stepdaughter, Chekevia Cathey of
Coldwater; five sisters, Betty Watson of Red Banks, Barbara Jones of
Holly Springs, Peggy Moore of Memphis, Tenn., Carolyn Hall, Katrina
Watson, both of Red Banks; four brothers, Robert Moore Jr. of
Millington, Tenn., George Moore of Cordova, Tenn., Leon Moore of South
Red Banks, Willie Moore of Red Banks; and two grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, Johnny Moore; and a sister, Dorothy Moore. James Roy Shumpert James Roy Shumpert, 56, of New Albany, died July 26, 2010 at North MS Medical Center in Tupelo. Services
are being held at 1 p.m. on July 29 at United House of Prayer in Blue
Mountain. Pastor, Bishop Henry Finley officiating. Serenity Funeral
Home of New Albany is in charge of arrangements. He
leaves his wife, Betty Lou Ivy Shumpert; a daughter, Christina Shumpert
of Oxford; a brother-in-law, whom he raised as a son, Andrew Ivy; three
brothers, Quincy Shumpert of Oxford, Willie Shumpert of Columbus, Earl
Shumpert of Oswego, Ill.; five sisters, Dorries McKinney of New Albany,
Patricia Lucas of Baldwyn, Bobbie Taylor of Holly Springs, Mable Lear
of Aurora, Ill, Edith Shumpert of New Albany; and his mother-in-law,
Ernestine Ivy of New Albany. He was preceded in death by a brother, Charles Shumpert and a sister, Mary Finley. Geraldine Swanger Geraldine
Swanger, 77, died July 16, 2010, at Maury Regional Hospital in
Columbia, Tenn. The widow of Emeral Melvin Swanger Sr., she was a
factory worker for Landau Uniforms and a member of the Church of Christ. Services were held July 18 at Twin Oaks Funeral Home in Southaven with burial in Twin Oaks Memorial Gardens. She
leaves four daughters, Gloria Pendley of Fultondale, Ala., Patricia
Gardner of Hughes, Ark., Sandra Riley of Summertown, Tenn., and Becky
Allen in Leoma, Tenn.; two sisters, Betty Sheppard of Orlando, Fla. and
Carolyn Whitworth of Holiday, Tenn.; 10 grandchildren including Christy
Stegner and Kimberly Sheffel both of Byhalia; and eight great
grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Emeral Melvin Swanger Jr.; two brothers; and two sisters. Marshall W. Watkins Marshall
W. Watkins, 73, of Byhalia, died July 22, 2010, at Ashland Health and
Rehabilitation. He was a member of the Church of Latter Day Saints, and
a painter. Services were held at 4 p.m. on July
24 at Holly Springs Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in John Skelton
Family Cemetery in Lamar. Bro. Mike Thomas officiated. He
leaves his wife, Addie Watkins; four sons, Rickey Watkins of Byhalia,
Stevie Watkins of Arlington, Tenn., Terry Watkins, Jerry Watkins, both
of Munford, Tenn., two daughters, Bonnie Byrd of Lamar, Becky Pannell
of Holly Springs; a brother, Bobby Watkins of Waterford; two sisters,
Freddie Dyer of Oakland, Tenn., Verbal Hann of Moscow, Tenn.; eight
grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by grandchildren Stephen Wayne Pannell and Marshall Colby Watkins.
