Holly Springs in Best of Mississippi By SUE WATSON
The city of Holly Springs was singled out as one of the four top places to take a day trip by Mississippi Magazine readers in the July/August issue. Court Square Inn was chosen as one of the top five bed and breakfast inns in the state. This listing is the second time this year Holly Springs has been highlighted in major magazines, said Lisa Liddy, co-owner of Court Square Inn Bed and Breakfast. “We were featured in an article in ‘This Old House’ magazine this spring as being one of the best places to buy a fixer-upper old (historic) house,” she said. Two other natives of Holly Springs were noticed by Mississippi Magazine for their restaurants. Robin Fant’s Bulldog Deli in Starkville was singled out for mention as one of the state’s top five best delis. He is the son of Bobby Fant of Holly Springs and the late Sylvia Tucker Fant. The other restaurant is Fratesi’s in Ridgeland. It was chosen as one of the top five best Italian restaurants. Owner Pam Wells Fratesi grew up in Holly Springs. “We are truly excited to be listed in The Best of Mississippi once again,” said Stephanie Movre, executive director of the Holly Springs Tourism and Recreation Bureau. “The fact that the magazine’s readers choose the winners makes the recognition that much more exciting! It is a true testament to the people of Holly Springs and to the hard work that goes into making Holly Springs a desirable destination.” “Tim and Lisa Liddy with Court Square Inn should be very proud of their designation as well. They do a phenomenal job and have developed beautiful and comfortable accommodations. Lisa gives every guest friendly and personal service. We hear nothing but rave reviews by everyone who stays there. Liddy said making the top five B&B list was a big surprise. “It’s a great honor, not only for our business, but we are happy our friends made the list, also,” Liddy said. “We hope the listing of Holly Springs as the best day trip will attract tourists. Tim and I have always loved Holly Springs and it is just great that other people notice our city as well. We are devoted to our community and our way of life.” Holly Springs is very deserving of making the best day trip, she said. “People who live here get so familiar with Holly Springs, they no longer notice its beauty,” Liddy said. “I love to meet visitors and to share with them the town I love.” In her business she gets to tell some of the Holly Springs story, something she enjoyed doing when she served at city hall as deputy city clerk. “I still get to promote Holly Springs the way I did at city hall,” she said. “I always loved to meet visitors and to share with them my love for Holly Springs. Tim and I are very grateful for the support that we have received from our community. The best promotion we receive is when someone recommends us to their friends and family.” In previous years (2007 and 2009) Graceland Too received top honors as “Best Off-Beat Destination” in Mississippi Magazine.
