Wife charged with murder
By SUE WATSON
A woman from the Cayce area is being held on murder charges after calling 911 Monday morning and stating she had shot her husband, according to Marshall County Sheriff Kenny Dickerson.
Donna Ann Gipson, 50, of 109 Tulip Cove, Byhalia, met authorities outside her home, and inside in the master bedroom law officers found her husband dead in bed with gunshot wounds, he said. The gun that may have been used in the shooting was in the driveway when officers arrived.
Dickerson said 911 received a call from Gipson at 6:20 a.m.
The body of the victim, Harvey Lofton Gipson Jr., 53, was sent to the state medical examiner’s office for autopsy.
Donna Ann Gipson made an initial appearance before Justice Court Judge Earnest Cunningham where the judge set bail at $500,000, the sheriff said.
The couple lived in the home alone.
