hundred thirty-four years ago on July 2, 1776, John Adams wrote a
letter to his wife, Abigail. He had been working on the Declaration of
Independence and was thrilled and elated over what God had wrought. In
the letter he says, “Generations of people will celebrate this day as a
Holy Day because of our new nation.” These patriots of yesteryear had
banded together and worked out a plan for our new nation that they had

The
parents of Ali Dee Reed and Boyce Hunter Crawford are pleased to
announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their children. The
bride-elect is the daughter of Renea Childress Reed of Holly Springs
and Leland Reed of Byhalia. She is the granddaughter of Dot Childress
of Byhalia and the late Melvin (Dooney) Childress. Paternal
grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Doyle Reed of Victoria. Ali
is a 2007 graduate of Marshall Academy. She received her nursing degree
from Northwest Community College - School of Nursing in 2009. She is a
registered nurse at Baptist Desoto Hospital in Southaven. The
prospective groom is the son of Boyce and Kathy Crawford of Slayden. He
is the grandson of the late Byron (Tootsie) and the late Eula Mae
(Tump) Hurdle; the late Harvey Crawford and the late Mary Faye C.
Hurdle. Hunter is a 1999 graduate of Marshall
Academy. He attended Northwest Com-munity College in Senatobia and is
employed by Chandler’s in Olive Branch. The couple will exchange vows Saturday, July 17, 2010 at 5 p.m. at Slayden Baptist Church in Slayden. A
reception will follow the ceremony in the church courtyard. Friends and
relatives are invited to come and share in the celebration of this
union. Following their honeymoon, the couple will make their home in South Slayden Farms.

Mr. and Mrs. Bob Tucker of Waterford announce the forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Kristi Harkness to Ryan Fogerty. Kristi is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Hatchett of Waterford and Bobbie Hatchett of Sardis. Kristi
is currently employed at Baptist Healthcare Corporation in Memphis,
Tenn., and is a student at the Baptist College of Health Sciences. Ryan
is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Pat Fogerty of Memphis, Tenn. He is the
grandson of Mary Fogerty of Memphis, Tenn. He is currently employed
with Greer Company. The wedding will be August 14, 2010 in Negril, Jamaica. The couple will reside in Memphis, Tenn.
