Behind The Scoreboard By Claude Vinson NBA draft The
NBA’s super market, actually known as the annual NBA draft, opened its
doors on June 25 so franchises could fill their shopping carts with new
talents in hopes of fulfilling playoff dreams. The hall was filled with
all the hopefuls with their families, future coaches, friends and
reporters. As usual it was cacophonous but orderly. Full Story

The
Potts Camp Bandits, coached by Kent Work, won first place in the
Marshall County Dizzy Dean Postseason Tournament Saturday, June 19.
Coach Kent Work said he is so proud of the hard work these guys have
put in. “We have grown so much as a team since our first practice in
April, and this trophy is just a reminder that hard work and
determination really do pay off,” he said. The team thanks the
sponsors, parents and coaches who helped make the season such a

Boat safety class slated for July 10 The
Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks will have a
boater safety class on Saturday, July 10, from 8 a.m. until at the
Marshall County Fairgrounds. All students must be at least 10 years old and have their Social Security number. Register for Arkabutla Lake archery deer hunt Arkabutla Lake will again hold its special management archery deer hunt in October. The
dates will be October 1-4 and 15-18. There will be four hunts, each
lasting two days – October 1-2, October 3-4, October 15-16 and October
17-18. Applicants
must be at least 16 years old. Applications will be available
July 28 at the Arkabutla Lake field office. The
deadline for receiving applications is 3:30 p.m. August 27. A public
drawing will be held September 1 at 9 a.m. at the Arkabutla Lake Field
