OpinionFielder’s Choice Carol will be missed To know Carol Scruggs was to love her. I first met her several years back when she worked for the Byhalia Police Department. I found out quickly that her big, beautiful smile was contagious. Close to Nowhere Softball and fireworks! • Our softball game was rained out Monday night. I was shocked that I was disappointed. Friday night, my youngest granddaughter Remy “did good!” She played well in the outfield — if she’d been two inches taller or could have managed a two-inch taller jump, she’d have caught a pop fly ball for an out — with runners on bases. She did get and throw to the pitcher several other hits. The Preacher’s Corner Ice box full of rutabagas, parsnips, rhubarb and kale! I was greatly relieved last week to see a truck unloading a new refrigerator at the home of a friend here in town. Actually, I have been greatly concerned of late, for two of my friends have had failures involving almost new refrigerators, and as I often eat out of those iceboxes, I have watched for the resolution of these issues with great interest. Letters To The Editor Ditto!: I wish to respond to the letters written to you by Greg Taylor, Bobby Dee Myers and Lois Swaney-Shipp by simply saying ditto, ditto and ditto. Thank you, Thank you: The organizers of GO Praise! Community Choir would like to thank all of the volunteers who helped make the sign-up day on the square a great success. A special thanks to Chief Pearson for donating drinks and Sheriff Dickerson and his cooks for frying fish. We would not have accomplished our goal if not for your gracious support. The goal of GO Praise! (Gifts of Praise Community Choir) is to help young people from ages 12-20 develop or deepen their relationship with God and to learn to enjoy praising Him. Since music transcends race, denomination and social status, we welcome the entire Holly Springs - Marshall County community to join us. We practice every Monday at the Eddie L. Smith Multi-Purpose Building at 6 p.m. Sincerely, Hometown Heroes Please take time to remember our local “heroes” who are serving in war zones around the world.
