readers, as you well know, the final chapter of the NBA 2009-2010
playoffs was written Thursday night in Los Angeles. Your last edition
of this paper was put in your hands just as a day after the sixth game
in the best of seven was played. It is easy to remember that prior to
that all-important game, the two best teams in this season’s NBA had
been going tit-for-tat. First it was L.A. then it was Boston, L.A. and
then Boston, and that went on until each had won a pair of games. Full Story
Youth fishing rodeo Saturday at Sardis The 2010 Sardis Lake Youth Fishing Rodeo will be held on Saturday, June 26, at the Sardis Lower Lake-Cypress Point Area. Registration will begin at 7 a.m. and the rodeo will start at 7:30 a.m. Age classes are 1-5 years old, 6-10 years old, and 11-15 years old. Valentine, daughter of April and Aaron Valentine, attended Mississippi
State University’s Elite Softball Camp last week. The girls stayed in
the dorm and had regimented days of non-stop field time. They worked on
agility, batting, offense and defense. While there, they worked with
some of the Bulldog players, past and present, as well as their
coaching staff. Thursday, they held Softball Olympics, where the girls
participated in events all over the field, as well as in the training
facility. |

All-star
Marcus
Rayford (right), a 2010 graduate of H.W. Byers High School, recently
played for the West in the Northeast Mississippi Basketball Coaches
Association All-Star Games at Itawamba Community College in Fulton. He
is pictured prior to the game with coach Jason Thompson of Byers. The
West boys dropped a 61-51 decision to the East. Rayford was second in
scoring for the West with 10 points. He also placed second in some
pre-game activities – the three-point shootout and the dunking
competition. |
