Five
local residents graduated from Blue Mountain College on May 8.
Graduating were Emily Bien of Byhalia, Haven Rushing Clayton of Potts
Camp, Tamara Bolt Hillmer of Waterford, Anna Teel of Red Banks and
Bridget Martin Woods of Holly Springs.

High nears completion
A
vast amount of work has been completed and workers have begun on the
detail work, including placing the school name on the bell tower of the
new Holly Springs High School. The new high school will be ready when
students return in August.

appear in Memphis
Melanie
Wells and the Thunder Rose Band will be appearing in Memphis for two
weeks, beginning June 3, at Dad’s Place in the Ramada Inn on
Brooks
Road. Melanie is the daughter of Kay R. Wells of Holly Springs and
Melvin H. (Hozy) Wells of Nesbit.
Thursday
Club hears Mrs. William Moore
Mrs.
Eugene Brown Sr. hosted the May 23 meeting of the Thursday Club at the
Old Parsonage of the First United Methodist Church. Mrs.
Moore’s
program was on “The First Ladies Cookbook,” and
various recipes from
Rosalynn Carter, Julia Tyler, Martha Washington, Grace Coolidge,
Patricia Nixon and Florence Harding were served, tea tasting style.

Young, Blue Mountain College junior, has been elected vice president of
The Modeanian Society. Last year she was program chairman. Gladys is
the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Young of Waterford.

Joe Ann Shearer accepts position at Blue Mountain
Miss
Joe Ann Shearer of Byhalia, former instructor of chemistry and biology
at Perkinston Junior College in Perkinston, has resigned to become
instructor of biology at Blue Mountain College. She is the daughter of
Mrs. I.B. Shearer and the late Mr. I.B. Shearer of Byhalia.
